The Lotus Dumpling Bar is the latest addition to the ever-burgeoning arts hub that is Walsh Bay.
Lucy Luo, who learnt the art of making dumplings in China and is regarded as the ‘Chinese queen of dumplings’ in Australia, will be stuffing and pinching fresh dumplings on our site every day.
One of the owners of the restaurant, Michael Jiang, says it’s long been his dream to take this “humble example of Chinese street food” and present it, with care, precision and a few contemporary twists, to discerning Sydney diners.
The menu is a happy collision between contemporary Australian cuisine and the street-cart Chinese food that inspired it. Jiang has also recruited Neo Ni, who trained under Dan Hong, executive chef at Mr Wong, named ‘Best New Restaurant in 2012′ by Good Food.
Former Firefly bar manager Led Emmett is the creative force behind the wine list and it features top drops from around the globe as well as a “killer cocktail list”.
